What Sound Are You Making?

It was a beautiful and warm day, so I decided to take a walk with the Lord as I frequently do. As I started out on the trail, my attention was drawn to all the sounds.  The birds were singing, the frogs were croaking, the bees where buzzing, the ducks were quacking, and the geese were making their honking noises.

The Lord began to speak to me and said, “Did you know that everything I created has a sound?”  I thought about it briefly and agreed—“Yes, every creature has its own sound”, I replied.  Then the Lord began to speak to me that everything He created has a sound, not just animals, but the trees, flowers, grass, the earth, the planets, the stars, and the universes—this includes all frequencies.

He continued talking as I listened intently.  He also said that the universes, stars, planets, the animals, trees, flowers, grasses all praise Him.  “Oh, Yes, they do!”, I exclaimed as He continued to reveal to me His creation process.  He said everything He made gives Him praise and glory…except mankind.  Startled by this, I said “what? why?”  He answered, “Even though mankind was created in my image after my likeness—I made mankind complete with a free will.   I didn’t give free will to the plants, stars, the universe, trees, flowers and grass—nothing else but mankind.”  I understood that everything else God created resounds with praise to Him.  In other words, they have no choice but to praise Him.  Mankind has a choice.  Of course, fallen mankind does not praise God because they don’t know Him.  However, born-again Believers get to chose whether they will or want to praise God or not by complaining and/or speaking contrary to His Word.

Then He asked me the most sobering question He’s ever presented to me, “What is the sound that comes out of your mouth?”  I felt in that moment, a most holy feeling come over me.  I began to weep as I realized that I don’t always have praise and thanksgiving to God coming out of my mouth.  He began to reveal these scriptures to me:

Psalm 34:1—…I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Psalm 40:3—  He has put a new song in my mouth—Praise to our God:

Psalm 51:15—  O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth Your praise.

Psalm 63:5—  My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.

Psalm 71:8—  Let my mouth be filled with Your praise and with Your glory all the day.

Psalm 109:30—  I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth; Yes, I will praise Him among the multitude.

Psalm 138:4—  All the kings of the earth shall praise You, O Lord, when they hear the words of Your mouth.

Psalm 145:21—  My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, and all flesh shall bless His holy name forever and ever.

Matthew 21:16—…’Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise’

Proverbs 8:6—  Listen, for I will speak of excellent things, and from the opening of my lips will come right things;

Proverbs 23:16—  Yes, my inmost being will rejoice when your lips speak right things.

Ephesians 4:29—  Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

Colossians 3:8—  But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

James 3:10—  Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing.  My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

Matthew 15:18—  But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.

Luke 6:45—  A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out off the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil.  For out of the abundance ofd the heart his mouth speaks.

Psalm 19:14—  Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

Psalm 49:3—  My mouth shall speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart shall give understanding.

Matthew 12:34—…For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

By this time, I was beginning to realize my own transgression.  I had just asked the Lord to remove anything in me that hinders me from His Spirit.  He was putting His finger on my lips—my mouth which is connected to my heart.

Being double minded as James 1:8 states (a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways), must not be a part of our lives if we are to align with God’s Holy Spirit who lives in us.  We cannot believe one way and speak another.  There is no power in being fragmented in our beliefs and understanding.  Allow God to put His finger on areas of your life that is resistant to Him—areas of deception and even rebellious to the truth.  Give Him everything!

I was radically saved in the darkest point of my life as a young adult. I've been a lover and disciple of Jesus ever since. I have 3 grown children (1 in heaven) and 4 grandchildren. I am so thankful for everything the Lord has brought me through and done in my life. My desire to write has been with me since childhood. Besides writing, my desire is to teach and encourage the Body of Christ "till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;" Eph.4:13.
