Have you ever thought about your soul as being spiritual? What you can’t see is eternal, what you can see is temporal. Your soul as well as your spirit can’t be seen, therefore they are spiritual and eternal. The soul (mind, will, and emotions) is the battleground of our lives..
Jesus has already overcome the enemy. Satan is under our feet as we realize who we are in Christ. Jesus has overcome, He is victorious, He possesses all power and authority. Does Jesus still fight the devil? No! And neither do we when we realize we are in Him and enter into His rest.
The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to pulling down strongholds. Strongholds lodge in the soul realm. Satan can’t touch your spirit, which is perfectly one with Christ’s Spirit. However, he can certainly throw things at you in the soul and body realm such as temptation to sin, sickness, and adverse circumstances. It’s an all out war at times! But God will use all things for our good. He will get us to a place where we begin to understand who and whose we are. It’s the testing of our faith that builds perseverance and patience.
Anything built will be tested. Car manufacturers test their cars by driving them into concrete and steel structures to see how well they hold up…or not. (Thankfully, God doesn’t test us in the same manner.) My point is; whatever is made is tested and we are no different when God is doing a work in us. He wants us to see how well we are doing more so than Him—because He already knows!
Hebrews 1:2-4 says, My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
To a Born Again Christian, our spirits are one with Christ, the victorious and mighty One, and full of the faith of God! However, in our souls, we are standing on His feet wrapping our arms around Him and holding on for dear life!
We are growing up into a perfect and complete person (body of Christ). We are being renewed day by day as we cling to Him. We are in a process of becoming like Him in our souls, but already perfected in our spirits.
Hebrew 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
It does get easier as we grow up in Christ, but life itself is an ongoing test! It comes with incredible lessons, but also incredible blessings! We just need to decide who we are going to serve; God or the devil (self).
Since you are eternal already, where are you going to spend eternity? Jesus has already overcome sin, sickness, hell and the grave. He has forgiven you by dying on the cross for you. You need only to receive His free gift of salvation by asking Him to come into your life and become your Lord as well as your savior.
